New Album BEHIND CURTAINS out on Quiet Love Records
On "Behind Curtains" HOLM explore moments of introspection as an escape from dystopia. The album was created in an air-raid bunker beneath a major Swiss bank, considered "too big to fail," located in the heart of Zurich's financial district near Paradeplatz. The music is influenced by the rhythm of aimless walks through desolate urban landscapes, the clash of cultures between DIY and luxury brands, and the musical collision of circus, film, and electronic music with the playing of physical instruments. HOLM is an attempt to answer the everyday existential questions of being musicians and a band: a friendly, non-profitable, creative exchange where anything is possible.
On "Behind Curtains," the outside world is excluded, focusing on the inner self, on what lives on in the music: memories of sunlit days, misty nights, and an emptiness that fades into a warm, steppe-like landscape in the darkness. HOLM shaped pieces from improvised ideas and moods, recording them live. The trio, consisting of Alessandro Giannelli (drums), Dimitri Käch (guitar) and James Varghese (bass), creates instrumental songs with reduced motifs and beats, mixing elements of post-rock, ambient, and shoegaze. HOLM's third album "Behind Curtains" was independently recorded and produced by the band in their rehearsal space and released on "Quiet Love Records“.
